This month, the prestigious Michelin Guide added six California-based restaurants to its list, showcasing a range of delectable dishes from mouthwatering steaks to hearty swordfish schnitzels.

The Michelin recognition highlights restaurants that deserve to be on any food enthusiast's must-visit list, attracting culinary aficionados from all corners.

Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of Michelin Guides, said in a previous Patch interview, "By revealing some of the new additions made by our inspectors throughout the year, we enhance our digital tools to further strengthen the ties that bind us to food lovers." He added that these regular updates provide opportunities to showcase the culinary profession and encourage people to explore and support nearby restaurants.

Below is the list of Michelin's recent additions, including notes from the restaurant inspectors:

Leona's Sushi House — 11814 Ventura Blvd., Studio City.

A Los Angeles favorite, Leona's Sushi House is celebrated for its excellent food and inviting atmosphere. The Japanese fusion menu, created by Chef Shigenori Fujimoto, Frank Leon, and Evan Ross, boasts dishes like savory udon carbonara with thinly sliced smoked pork belly, creamy egg, and Parmigiano. The restaurant is highly regarded for its seafood offerings, such as an impressive ceviche and sashimi-grade halibut doused in a ponzu sauce vinaigrette.

Niku X — 900 Wilshire Blvd. Ste 212, Los Angeles.

Hidden away on The Wilshire Grand Central's second floor, Niku X enchants with its stunning traditional Japanese design and an entirely open kitchen. The restaurant combines classic Yakiniku-style cooking with modern techniques. Beef takes center stage at Niku X, featuring certified Japanese A5 Wagyu from the group's private farm and other sources in Australia, Portland, and Japan. Yakiniku courses are cooked on state-of-the-art robotayaki grills, with options like hotate (scallops) served with Hokkaido uni butter and seven-day, dry-aged steelhead trout.

Sushi Yuen — 18558 Gale Ave. unit 100-102., City of Industry.

Sushi Yuen is a community favorite for its reasonably priced lunch offerings. The restaurant emphasizes the use of high-quality, ultra-fresh ingredients. Sushi Yuen's lunch menu features miso-marinated black cod accompanied by crispy river crab; caviar-topped West Coast oyster; gamtae seaweed handrolls; and a dessert of preserved persimmon, sweet melon, and panna cotta.

Other notable mentions:

Selanne Steak Tavern — 1464 S Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach.

Mabel's Gone Fishing — 3770 30th St., San Diego.

Bansang — 1560 Fillmore St., San Francisco.
